Ayda Melika is the Assistant Director of Graduate Studies in Global Media and Cultures at Georgia Tech University where she teaches in the Schools of History & Sociology, Design and Architecture, Modern Languages, and Media Studies. She received her Ph.D.  in the History of Architecture and Sociology of the Urban Middle East at University of California, Berkeley. She received her M.S. in Environmental Design and Urbanism in Developing Countries and her M.Arch. in Cultural Landscapes. As a documentarian her films focus on socio-cultural and political aspects of design and the spatial manifestations of collective activism.

Susanne Cowan is an Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture at Montana State University. She received her Ph.D. in the History of Architecture and Urbanism from University of California, Berkeley. Her work focuses on public consultation in the planning process and in community organizing as a tool for social justice.
